What is Trixie Spirit?
Trixie Spirit is singer-songwriter Elise Bochinski, a lady with a sweet voice and brainy lyrics who loves a well-crafted popular song no matter what musical style. Countless hours soaking up 1960s rock, British folk, and roots music led to a shoe box full of cassettes filled with tuneful bits and pieces that sat on the shelf until producer Steve Hansen's amazing instrumentation brought out the best in them. This project showcases the culmination of 30 years of songwriting, blown like wishes to the wind. Grateful for whatever brought you here - hope you enjoy Trixie Spirit!
So... where does the name come from?
"Be not afeard; the isle is full of noises, Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not."
Trixie Spirit takes its name from Shakespeare’s The Tempest, his most magical and musical play. It’s a reference to the conjurer Prospero’s clever and other-worldly servant, Ariel – “my tricksy spirit” – who creates storms, fires, music, terrors, all in the service of Prospero’s revenge. Ariel is Prospero’s muse, his slave, but he is also his salvation - at a critical moment Ariel reminds Prospero that compassion and forgiveness lies at the heart of what it means to be human. Ultimately Prospero frees him, and Ariel returns to his natural element, the air.

Sound moves through the air, and can create bonds between the song and the listener that transcend time and trouble. I've found that's what music does for me. All songsters are tricksy spirits. Come join us!
